Television May Be Doing Your Thinking

(NaturalNews) The world's biggest leisure activity is watching television. Not walking or reading, not playing games with our children, not engaging with others in outdoor activities. Most of us like to think that television has absolutely no effect on how we think or what we do. We believe that it is a way to relax. Many of us may be surprised to know that television is a controlling medium, relaxing us enough to switch off our analytical brain (the left side of the brain) so that we uncritically, or unlogically, process the information beaming from the television. This means we are less able to make decisions or judgments about what we hear on television.

Our brains undergo a similar process under hypnosis. The similarity between hypnosis and the effects of watching television is unveiled in Dr Aric Sigman's book called Remotely Controlled. Sigman describes hypnosis as "an altered state of consciousness"; a form of sleepwalking where our mind is influenced by another (the hypnotist or practitioner).

As many of you know, Dave Elman has been a major influence in my professional career. He was a kind, loving man who always had the best interest of our profession at heart. Prior to about 1985 he was basically unknown by most hypnotists. I am proud to be the instructor who brought his teachings and knowledge to the place where all hypnotists, both new and old, can easily have access to his tremendous knowledge.

This article reveals certain information about Dave Elman never before published. Prior to writing this article, My dear friend and article author Martin Segal contacted Mrs. Pauline Elman who gave her blessing to the article. I hope that after reading this work, you will better understand the type of man Dave Elman truly was.

About 25 years ago, as President of the AAEH's New Jersey Chapter, I came up with what I thought was a great idea for a program which would surely attract a large audience, I'd write to the great Dave Elman and invite him to be our speaker. You can imagine the comments from my colleagues - at least those who considered me foolish for even thinking he'd come; "You're just wasting your time" .."He only speaks to Professional groups"..."He never has anything to do with lay groups" and so it went.

Undaunted, I wrote the letter and a few days later received a phone call from Mr. Elman accepting my invitation.

least, we infer that thing over his shoulder is a reading lamp because the "eyes" are radiating light. Could be just a cat that has swallowed a flashlight.
